Physically writing things down with a pen on paper is a brilliant way to get directly into the things that are important to you.
To delve into your habits, feelings, thoughts, motivations and focus.
Blank page. Blank stare.
If you have found yourself just staring at a blank page and ending up with a doodle of a clown or a smiley face then here are some examples of what could go into your daily journal:
Todays most important task
How you slept
How you feel (mood)
Time you got up and what time you will go to bed
What you are grateful for
What has happened today
Checklist
You could have a page each week with a checklist of things that are important to your happiness.
And then at a glance you can see if you have been been literally ticking all your boxes.
Possible headings
Time in nature
Connect with friends/family
Exercise
Eat adequate veg/protein
Drink 2 litres water
Bed by 10pm
Meditate
Read a chapter of book
Your list will be personal to you.
And can evolve over time.
I love this as a way to help stop the wheels from coming off and help us keep focus on the things we know help keep us centred and happy.
What's in your journal?
I know some of you will be deep into journaling already.
I would love to hear what you write about.
What you have found has worked well for you.
And might work for others.
Top Tip 💡
Buy a journal and pen that you love using.
Keep it somewhere you will see it everyday.
And purposely set aside time to write in it.
Quietly focus on it.
I journal daily, I like to do it first thing after I meditate, my journal can be different each day but I am consistent in writing down the following:
- what I’m grateful for
- I like to write down my morning affirmations after I’ve said them out loud
- I write how I am feeling in myself no matter how good or bad I write it down then I let it go
- I sometimes set goals for the day but not always sometimes I just like to see where the day will take me
- I often draw in my journal too images that come to me
I sometimes circle back before bed and write about my day,…
