This weekend was the annual Alternative Highland Games in New Galloway. I was back in my town of origin – Castle Douglas – visiting and it just so happened the Games were on. So myself and my sister popped along to have a look and ended up taking part in a few events.
It was a warm sunny summer day of home made tea and cakes, snail racing, gird and cleek,
tractor pulling, fork and sheaf throwing, hurlin’ the curlin’ stane and tug o war.
There was tumbola, classic cars and picnics.
Beautiful rural sunny day – like travelling back to a better time.
